Who is AIDGA?

All Ireland Disc Golf Association (AIDGA) is none profit organization that works on promoting, growing and spreading awareness about disc golf around Ireland. We are the main body for disc golf sport in Ireland and we want to help activity centers, schools, public parks and anyone who has interest in the sport to grow around the country.

  • Around 2006, an initial attempt was made to introduce disc golf to Ireland by a player living in Portland, Oregon. This individual held meetings with various stakeholders, including Dublin Parks Superintendent, Coillte, and the Minister for Sport. Despite generating interest, the lack of financial backing and bureaucracy ultimately stalled the effort.

  • The first permanent disc golf course in the Republic of Ireland was established at Kippure Estate, Co. Wicklow, opening around March 2015. This was a landmark moment, spurred on by a grant from the Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA).

  • The sport is supported by the Irish Flying Disc Association (IFDA), the umbrella organization for all disc sports in Ireland, though their primary focus has historically been Ultimate Frisbee.

More recently, the All Ireland Disc Golf Association (AIDGA) was formed, bringing together like-minded players from both the North and South of Ireland to promote and grow the sport. They work with communities and educators to make the sport more accessible.

    • Expansion of Courses: Several courses have been established across Ireland, including locations like Wildlands in Galway, Westport House in Mayo, and various courses in Northern Ireland (such as the UUC Arboretum DGC).

    • Dublin's First Public Course: A significant development occurred in July 2024 with the opening of the 9-hole course in Corkagh Park, making disc golf accessible in a public park in Dublin for the first time.

    • Tournaments: The growth in popularity has led to an increase in organized events. Notably, "The Dublin Open 2025: The Masters" was the first-ever PDGA-sanctioned professional disc golf event held in Corkagh Park, a sign of the sport's maturing presence in the country.iption text goes here
